 Information Organizer Release Notes

VERSION 1.3.2 (December 18, 2002)

   1. Video files can be specified as one of the types of data for data items.
       The specified video files will be played automatically during slide
       shows.

   2. While publishing data items to web pages, several advanced options can
       be specified to enhance the appearance of the web pages. Options can be
       specified to launch and control the slide show.

   3. Several new examples are provided in the web site to illustrate the
       multimedia capabilities of the Information Organizer.

   4. Some minor bugs are fixed and some usability enhancements are made.

VERSION 1.3.1 (February 16, 2002)

   1. The registration mechanism is changed to consist of a customer number
       and a registration key and this information has to be purchased.

   2. Java Runtime Environment software is included in the installable
       package.
 

VERSION 1.3 (February 8, 2002)

  1. A new feature to publish data to web is added. With this feature
     html pages with the same look and feel as that of the Information
     Organizer application can be generated and all the data can be seen
     organized in multiple categories. Data can be seen in multi-media slide
     show also. Visitors to the web pages do not need any additional
     software other than the browser to see the data and the slide show.

  2. A new feature to provide context based instructions is added. A window
     with all the possible operations the user can do is displayed while the
     user is performing any operations in the Information Organizer.
 

VERSION 1.2.2 (January 15, 2002)

  1. The packaging of the installable executable is changed to contain only
     the Information Organizer code and its documentation. The Java Runtime
     Environment (JRE) software is not included in the downloaded package.
     Instructions for downloading it are provided during the installation
     process.

  2. More informational messages are added for registration and sending mail
     from the Information Organizer.
 

VERSION 1.2.1 (December 18, 2001)

  1. The software for Information Organizer is signed with a code signing
       certificate from VeriSign, a well known certification authority.

  2. While sending e-mail to multiple people from Information Organizer,
       there is an option to select sending mail to all the recipients as one
       message or send to EACH address in the list as a separate message. Each
       recipient will not see all the addresses in the list with the second
       option.

  3. A mail log file is created in the logs directory which has a log of all the
       mail messages sent from the Information Organizer.

  1. The problem in creating new category files is corrected.

  2. The problem in editing the information in some pages is corrected.
 

VERSION 1.2 (December 3, 2001)

  1. Information Organizer can be launched from web pages directly using Sun's Java Web Start technology.

  2. The time category items can be defined with different granularity levels - only years, only years and months
      or years, months and dates can be created.

  3. It is possible to specify background color or background image for time category items.

  4. While defining items in the time cabinet, only the desired time information can be specified.
       It can be

                     - year
                     - year and month
                     - year, month and date
                     - year, month, date and starting time
                     - year, month, date, starting time and ending time

  5. For audio files of formats other than .wav, .au, .aiff, their duration can be entered while defining the audio
     information. This would allow the slide show to pause appropriately.

  6. Performance and memory usage improvements.
