Getting started
- On Microsoft operating systems, start the Blog Organizer by double clicking on the shortcut created during the installation process or by executing the blogorg.bat file in the bin directory. On the other operating systems, execute the blogorg file in the bin directory.
- On some Windows operating systems (95,98,ME), you may see an out of memory error in the C:\ window. You need to increase the memory for Initial Environment for C:\ windows. This can be set as follows. Click with right mouse button on the window frame of a C:\ window and select properties. Then select the memory tab. Change the number for Initial Environment to 4096. If it is not set, you may see an out of memory error message in the C:\ window while starting the program and the program will not start. Please look at this Microsoft support page if you need more information on this problem.
- If you have installed the Users' Guide, go to the Help menu and select the menu item Help Information. Please go through the Users' Guide to familiarize yourself with the concepts and functionality of the Blog Organizer. A good understanding of all the available features will help you better organize your information. The Users' Guide is also available on the web site here.
- Look at the examples presented and see if any of those are similar to what you would like to do. You can then try to duplicate that example to get started. Once you feel comfortable with that, you can get started with your information.
- If you like to use categories for organizing information, first define the categories. Then you can define the cabinets and start storing information into cabinets as data items. A context helper window displays all the operations you can do while using the Blog Organizer. You can follow those instructions until you become familiar with the product.
